Join the Palatine Jaycees Local Business Scavenger Hunt

As small businesses reopen their doors the Palatine Jaycees are looking to make economic recovery a little more fun with its local Business Scavenger Hunt.

From June 29 though July 17, Palatine residents can participate by the free smartphone app, "Actionbound," and gain points for supporting local business.

"It costs absolutely nothing to play," said Becky Cohen, a co-chair for the project. "We are hoping to encourage you to support businesses you might already often visit. We are also hoping you discover some businesses run by your neighbors that you may not yet know about."

At the end of the hunt the top three finishers will receive prize packages consisting of gift cards to local shops and restaurants as well as a selection of prizes donated by the following businesses: My Flavor It Place, d'Vine Wine, A Closer Bond Dog Community, Spunky Dunkers, Arete Salon & Spa, ebrWOW, Pan American Bank, Just Peachy Photography, State Farm, Morkes Chocolates, Brush Salon and Sweet C's Bakery.

"We have over 25 local businesses participating in this competition," said Emily Reyes, a co-chair for the project. "Half of them have donated hundreds of dollars worth of items and gift cards for the prize packages."

In addition to donating gift cards to the prize packages, the Palatine Jaycees are also donating a free year of membership to the organization as well as exclusive discounts to upcoming Jaycee events.

"The Jaycees are feeling the effects of the shut down too," said Jenny Levin, a co-chair for the project. "But we still want to be able to support the community and serve as an opportunity to young adults to get involved and make a difference."

Participants must be 21 years of age or over to qualify for gift packages.
