Zoom into June with virtual programming by BACOA

The Barrington Area Council on Aging is offering a month of free virtual programming on a variety of subjects, including health, cooking, local history and art. (Art programs will require an additional materials cost.)

The programs begin June 1. The schedule for the first week includes:

• Monday, June 1: 10 a.m., "Get your Blood Flowing with Chair Yoga." Certified instructor Amy Richie will give bodies and soul a boost with a yoga session geared for every body and every age.

• Tuesday, June 2: 11 a.m., Virtual Bingo.

• Wednesday, June 3: 11 a.m., Casual Community Conversations. Sam Adams-Lanham and Corinne Groble, librarians at the Barrington Area Library, will share their professional journey and discuss this year's coming attractions to the library. This interactive session allows participants to join the conversation, ask questions and make programming suggestions.

• Thursday June 4: 11 a.m., "History through Harmony: The Ditties that Define the Decades." Patrick Wire, sociology and global studies teacher at Barrington High School, will lead a melodic journey through time. The group will explore what music from various decades tells us about society at the time and examine if songs truly transform culture or merely reflect moments in history.

Other programs in June will include a trivia challenge, a cooking demonstration by Daily Herald food columnist Penny Kazmier, and a community conversation with Barrington Village President Karen Darch.

All programs will be held via Zoom. To register, call BACOA at (847) 381-5030. If you do not know how to use Zoom, contact Janine at joleary@bacoa.org or call BACOA to schedule a one-on-one walk-through.

Once you've registered, BACOA will provide the invitation, meeting ID and password to the program.
