Hoffman Estates athlete named team captain at St.Cloud State

St. Cloud State University (Minn.) has announced its swim and dive team captains for the upcoming 2020-21 season. Huskies' head coach Jeff Hegle made the announcement recently at the team's year-end awards ceremony, which was held online this year due to the COVID crisis.

Senior Casey Rawlings, a resident of Hoffman Estates, Ill. and graduate of Hoffman Estates H.S., has been selected as one of the team captains for the SCSU women's swim and dive team in 2020-21.

The other women's team captains for 2020-21 will be Marena Kouba (Sartell, Minn./Sartell H.S.), senior Alexis Burroughs (Ladysmith, Wisc./H.S.), senior Christina Ware Ankeny, Iowa/Centennial H.S.), senior Alyssa Doherty (Cudahy, Wisc./Whitenall H.S.) and junior Whitney Hanson (Ladysmith, Wisc./Bruce H.S).

SCSU won its second consecutive NSIC women's swim and dive championship in 2019-20 and qualified nine student-athletes for the 2020 NCAA DII championships. This marked the fourth time (in the last five NSIC meets) that the Huskies have claimed the league's top spot.

St. Cloud State was founded in 1869 and it has an enrollment of over 11,000 students. The University's main campus is located in the city of St. Cloud, Minn. SCSU is an NCAA Division II affiliate and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
