New playground coming to Cranberry Lake Park

The Round Lake Area Park District is set to begin a playground project at Cranberry Lake Park, 115 Forest Glen Drive, Hainesville.

Park workers planned to take down the playground at Cranberry Lake Park the week of May 18. Then an installation company will come in and install a new playground.

The old playground equipment will be donated to Kids Around the World, a nonprofit that refurbishes donated playground equipment to use in underserved communities abroad.

If the weather cooperates and the construction goes according to plan, the new playground at Cranberry Lake Park should be ready to use by the middle of June.

This park was identified through the park district's replacement program as needing all new equipment and safety surfacing. The district created an equipment replacement schedule to ensure all components meet today's safety and accessibility standards.

The standard useful life of a playground is approximately 15 years. This current playground was built in 2004.
