Ella Johnson Public Library seeks candidates to fill board vacancies

The Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District is seeking qualified legal residents to fill vacancies on the board of trustees.

Applicants must be age 18 or older; registered to vote within the district; and have resided within the district for at least one year.

Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

Submit letters of interest to Barbara M. Brust, board president, at geobar722@fvi.net, or U.S. mail, 110 Jack Dylan Drive, Hampshire, IL 60140 to be received no later than Wednesday, March 18.

Interviews will take place at the March 23 board meeting. You will be contacted upon receipt of your application.

The basic trustee functions include:

• Policy-making, which involves establishing and revising policies, through careful study and thoughtful discussion, that will determine the proper course of action.

• Finance, which involves advising and approving budgets, seeing that the library has the necessary funds available for proper running of the library; and promoting referendums and bond levies if necessary, stimulating gifts and endowments.

• Community relations, which involves seeing that the community understands the objectives and goals of the library, and promoting good public relations whenever possible.
