Judson University to host annual Beyond Colorblind Chapel Series in February

Judson University's Chapel Ministry will feature a series during chapel titled "Beyond Colorblind," highlighting the importance of diversity and Black History Month within the university community.

The series will commence at 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Feb. 17, 19, and 21, at the Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St. in Elgin. It is open to the public.

Featured speakers will include author and pastor D.A. Horton and Ray Chang, ministry associate at Wheaton College.

The weeklong series will begin on Monday with a message from D.A. Horton, pastor of Reach Fellowship in Long Beach, Calif. He is the author of eight books, "G.O.S.P.E.L.," "DNA: Foundation of the Faith," "Bound to Be Free," and more. His most recent book, "Intensional," is focused on offering practical guidance for Christians seeking racial reconciliation.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Horton is also an Assistant Professor of Intercultural Studies at California Baptist University. He holds a master's degree in Christian Studies from Calvary Theological Seminary and a bachelor's degree from Calvary Bible College. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Ray Chang, Ministry Associate for Discipleship at Wheaton College, will continue the discussion on Wednesday and Friday. A native Chicagoan, Chang has lived all over the world during his time with the Peace Corps in Panama and in various former positions. He has also travelled extensively in Asia, Europe, and Central America. Holding a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Chang will join the conversation about race relations in America.

Judson University brings together students of various backgrounds in a Christ-centered and biblically based community. With a commitment to diversity and social engagement, the Beyond Colorblind series will engage current issues of race relations in light of the gospel.
