Woodland District 50 Announces New Associate Superintendent of Education

Woodland School District 50 is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Machak will be joining the Administrative Team as the new Associate Superintendent of Education starting in July 2020. The Board of Education recently approved the employment of Dr. Machak at its January meeting.

Dr. Machak is currently the Superintendent of Schools for District 124 in Evergreen Park and has served in that role for the past eight years. When he joins the Woodland team, he will be replacing Dr. Lori Casey, as she transitions into her new position as the Superintendent.

Dr. Lori Casey explained, "I am confident that Dr. Machak shares our Woodland values of high expectations, community engagement, and educational equity for every student. His knowledge, background and his core beliefs about children, families and staff will make him an excellent leader in our organization."

Dr. Machak has 11 years of experience as a Superintendent in elementary school districts, currently in Evergreen Park and before that for Emmons School District. These roles have included many of the responsibilities of the Associate Superintendent of Education, as well as business manager and curriculum director. He has also served in the role of principal and assistant principal. Under his leadership, his current school district was honored with numerous designations such as an Illinois Horizon School, ASCD Whole Child Award, ISBE Early Childhood Gold Circle of Quality Award, and more.

Woodland Superintendent Dr. Joy Swoboda commented, "We are fortunate to have a skilled and experienced leader joining our district during this time of transition between superintendents. Dr. Machak will be a great support to Dr. Casey, and his work style will complement our leadership team."

Before Dr. Machak begins his employment with Woodland, he will finish the school year in Evergreen Park. D124 will benefit from his continued leadership working with the schools and community to complete the Long-Range Strategic Plan, and his assistance with the transition for a new superintendent. He will also spend time with Dr. Casey to increase his understanding of D50 priorities and initiatives and to begin preparing for his new role.

Dr. Machak stated, "I am honored to be joining the Woodland team and to start experiencing #LifeintheW. I know that I will learn a great deal from the amazing professionals I've met so far, and I'm excited to see how my contributions will shape the learning experience for the students in our district. This is a great opportunity for me both personally and professionally, and I can't wait to get started."
