Vote for your favorite dance team at PADS of Elgin's 'Stars Dance' benefit

Support PADS of Elgin at the annual "Winter Harvest for the Homeless" on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Stonegate Banquet & Conference Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates.

The evening with the theme, "Stars Dance," will be 5:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $100. Sponsorships are also available.

Enjoy food, games, silent and live auction items. There also will be live entertainment as local "stars" dance to raise funds for the nonprofit organization.

Public Action to Deliver Shelter of Elgin provides safe shelter, support services, and advocacy to homeless individuals in northern Kane County and Hanover Township.

According to the 2019 annual report, PADS of Elgin served 27,196 meals to guests; provided 15,109 days and nights of shelter; and served 423 evening guests (256 men, 125 women and 42 children). Three hundred and ninety volunteers contributed more than 6,400 hours.

The exit shelter success rate is 73 percent, which is three times the national average. Ninety-two percent of those who exit retained their housing.

In December 2018, the new day shelter opened and the evening shelter is opening 365 nights a year. Case management services are available seven nights a week.
