The seniors of the Geneva Township Center capped off their yearly Christmas toy drive by presenting the Salvation Army Tri-City Corps with 252 new toys for distribution to babies and children up to 12 years of age in the Tri-Cities area.

A wide and varied assortment of 127 new unwrapped toys purchased by center members from local merchants were included in the donation along with 125 handmade, colorful and detailed stuffed, plush animals for young children and babies.

The stuffed toys were crafted by the Geneva chapter of Share the Warmth which operates from the Geneva Township Center.

Share the Warmth's primary mission is to make and donate to local hospitals crocheted blankets and hats for chemotherapy patients and new born babies.

"Through their donations of money, toys, time and materials our members really stepped up to make this the township center's most successful toy drive ever. I can't thank them enough for their generosity," said Sheri McMurray, center director.

Township Supervisor Pat Jaeger, speaking on behalf of the township board, stated, "We are truly impressed by and proud of the efforts of our center members in the way they embraced this effort and helped spread the spirit of the season. In the end it's a win for the families who benefitted from this drive and a win for our members knowing they made some child's Christmas a bit sweeter."

The Geneva Township Center is open to all Geneva Township residents age 55 or older. Contact Sheri McMurray at (630) 232-6202 for more information about the Geneva Township Center.
