Naperville-based Weiss Scholarship Foundation gives 16 scholarships to students in Kenya

The Weiss Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce 16 new scholarship recipients in Dago, Kenya. This breaks their previous record of 12 last year.

The sixteen students and the high schools they will be attending are: Mourine Ateya Akusama, Deslyne Akinyi Okeo, Lydia Viola Otieno, Sophie Stecy Nyagol, Macrine Achieng Nyenje, Millicent Awuor Otieno, Nichole Akoth Odhiambo, and Winnie Akoth Otieno, all at Jane Adeny Memorial School; Lewis Okoth Otieno, Maranda High School - National; Larrix Odhiambo Owino, Nanyuki High School - National; Phenton Fortune Ouma, Homa Bay High School; Travis Charles Juma and Joel Onyango Owuor, St. Pius Uriri High School; Richard Byron Okello, Kangeso Boys High School; Felix Otieno Ochola, Wang'Apala High School; and Crivance Tom Ochieng, Tonga Boys High School.

In total, Weiss Scholarship Foundation has now awarded 70 full four-year high school scholarships in a village where few had ever gone to high school before. Twenty-four students have graduated high school and eight have gone on to university. The foundation works with the rest to get them placed in vocational schools.

Donors have dramatically improved the lives of 70 children in Kenya. Not only will their lives be better, but so will the lives of their families, children, the village and all of Kenya.

The Weiss Scholarship Foundation thanks the many hundreds of people and organizations whose donations over these years have made all of this possible. The foundation hopes you will continue to support their work. The foundation is very proud of what they have accomplished, but they have just begun. There is so much more work that needs to be done because there are so many children who need the foundation's help.

The Weiss Scholarship Foundation is crazy enough to believe that they can create a world where every child gets a great education! Educating children is the only long-term sustainable solution toward solving the world's problems. It is the solution that solves all the other problems. One child at a time we can make the world a much better place.
