Save-A-Pet joins the GivingTuesday Project

Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday kicks off the giving season. It is a global day of giving that takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, which is Dec. 3 this year.

GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe (almost 60 countries) mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities.

Save-A-Pet is asking anyone who wants to make an impact locally to consider the shelter in their holiday giving options. All donations made during the GivingTuesday period go directly toward the cost of caring for dogs and cats rescued by Save-A-Pet.

"Thousands of local people have added to their families through an adoption of a Save-A-Pet rescued cat or dog. GivingTuesday and the gifts from individuals and families is one of the ways that Save-A-Pet can continue our work and support our no-kill mission," said Pat Kennedy-Pfeifer, executive director at Save-A-Pet.

"We are asking everyone to please give generously on GivingTuesday. Remember to utilize your company's Matching Gift Program to double or even triple your gift. Please take advantage of this often unused opportunity," Kennedy-Pfeifer said.

Save-A-Pet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and has saved more than 64,000 animals and expanded thousands of families with the love of an adopted pet.

Relying solely on donor generosity, Save-A-Pet is one of the largest true no-kill cat and dog rescues in Lake County and costs more than $1,600,000 per year to operate.
