Eat a sub and help fund the YWCA Elgin Nov. 14

Support the YWCA Elgin by eating submarine sandwiches at Jersey Mike's, 123 S. Western Ave. in Carpentersville, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. The YWCA Elgin will receive 25% of the proceeds if the nonprofit is mentioned at checkout.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the YWCA Elgin's educational programs.

For the past 119 years, the YWCA Elgin has been on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. They strive to achieve their mission through the programs such as: subsidized school aged child care to working families; English classes to those looking to improve their lives through education; family literacy classes for students learning English as a Second Language; preschool to Family Literacy children; clothing to the needy; prom dresses to those who would otherwise not be able to attend; and Workforce Development to those looking to increase their employability.

Due to a decrease in funding, the YWCA Elgin is struggling to continue to offer these programs. They need your help to ensure that the operating costs are covered.

Your support will enable them to continue doing work in the community.
