Learn about 2020 Census at Batavia Counts forum Nov. 14

On Thursday, Nov. 14, join an informational meeting to learn about the 2020 Census and hear from a panel of Batavia leaders about why completing the census is so important to the community. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

April 2020 marks the next 10-year census which counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. Communities across the country are spreading the word about the importance of responding to the census.

The Batavia Public Library and the City of Batavia have joined together to organize "Batavia Counts" to engage and educate the residents of Batavia about the 2020 Census through partnerships with community organizations.

An accurate Census 2020 count for Batavia will ensure that residents of Batavia are properly represented in Congress; secure federal and state funding allocations for Batavia governmental agencies that will be appropriate to meet the needs of all Batavians; and help Batavia agencies plan effectively for public safety, school services, and emergency preparedness.
