Fox Valley Lyrical Productions to hold benefit concert

Fox Valley Lyrical Productions will hold its second Benefit Event with a fundraiser luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave., Elgin.

The group's first fundraiser, held Aug. 18 at First United Methodist Church in Elgin, "was a success both financially and artistically," according to Artistic Director Solange Sior.

At that event, Fox Valley Lyrical Productions raised nearly half of the funds needed to create a production, now planned for April 2020, Sior said.

Singers set to perform Nov. 17 include Sior, a soprano from West Dundee; mezzo-soprano Karen Archbold from Wheaton; tenor Nicholas Metzger, tenor Jeorge Holmes and bass-baritone Jim Hinton, all of Elgin.

Singers featured from the Young Artist Program include Julia Smitendorf, 14, from Lake in the Hills and Blake Buczkiewicz, 15, from Huntley. Pianists will be Sior, Jonathan Besancon and Murna Hansemann.

The luncheon follows the 10:30 a.m. service at Evangelical Covenant Church. The singers will participate in the service.

"We will skip the silent auction and will just ask that you make a donation to help build the rest of the funds needed," Sior said.

Reservations can be made by email at solangesior@gmail.com or by calling (224) 595-1526.
