Antiques + Modernism Show Open to Public November 8 -10
The Antiques + Modernism Show, presented by The Woman's Board of the Community House, will assemble more than 40 of the world's finest dealers at the North Shore historic Community House, 620 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois. The weekend kicks off on Thursday, November 7, 2019, with a benefit preview party from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The show runs Friday, November 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
The A+M Show is the ultimate destination for interior designers, treasure hunters, and collectors alike. Ranging in styles from classic to modern, dealers at the Show feature exquisite home furnishings and accessories, artwork, clothing, vintage and fine jewelry and more, all available for purchase from dealers who are nationally recognized experts. The Show's 61-year history and prevailing reputation speak to the caliber of this highly anticipated shopping event.
In addition to antiques dealers showcasing their American, European and Asian collections, there will also be those specializing in modern pieces offering work from various design movements including Mid-Century Modern, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco. The event will also include two programs featuring the expertise of acclaimed interior designers and dealers from the Show.
"D2//Designers and Dealers: The Art of the Mix" will be held on Friday, November 8, at 10 a.m., and will feature a lively panel discussion moderated by Dana Caponigro, Creative Director of F. Schumacher & Co. and Editor-in-Chief of the luxury design magazine The Bulletin. Prosecco and pomegranate cocktails and small bites will be served during the discussion with noted New York City Sotheby's trained interior designer Timothy Whealon, and author of In Pursuit of Beauty, a monograph of his work published by Rizzoli, as well as A+M Dealers Lee Thinnes of Lee's Antiques and Gary Sergeant of G. Sergeant Antiques.
"An Adventurous Life: Global Interiors," a discussion and book signing with noted interior designer and author Tom Stringer led by current Interiors Chicago editor Laura Hine, will be held on Saturday, November 9, from 10-11:30 a.m. Tom Stringer founded his eponymous multi-disciplinary firm on Chicago's Magnificent Mile more than 20 years ago to conceive and deliver unique design solutions for residences, restaurants, and yachts around the globe. He recently released his first book, An Adventurous Life: Global Interiors, a compendium of his world travels, personal photography and observations intermingled with over half a dozen of his most unique projects.
Tickets for the preview party are $150 in advance and $160 at the door. The benefit will offer Community House supporters a first look at the Show and include cocktails, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and dessert. Three-day show tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 per person at the door. All ticket proceeds go to support the Community House, and it's programming. Sheridan Road of JWC media is the media sponsor for the preview party and the show.
Event tickets for "D2//Designers and Dealers: The Art of the Mix" on November 8, and "An Adventurous Life: Global Interiors" on November 9 are $50 per person and include show entry. For a reserved table of 10, tickets are $450, which also include show entry.
