Downers Grove South puts on 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' Nov. 1-2

Downers Grove South High School Drama presents their fall play, "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, in the auditorium, 1436 Norfolk St. Note: the content of the play is for mature audiences only.

The production, directed by Nathaniel Haywood, features a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of love and horror. On the fogbound streets of Victorian-era London, Henry Jekyll's experiments with exotic "powders and tinctures" have brought forth his other self - Edward Hyde, an extremist and villain free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend. When Hyde meets a woman who stirs his interest, Jekyll fears for her life and decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who shall be the master and who his slave. With multiple Hydes portrayed by members of the cast, this show dives into the soul in order to ask the question of whether anyone is truly good or evil.

The cast will feature: Nathan Frewen as Dr. Henry Jekyll; Alaina Vergara as Elizabeth Jelkes; Kaleb Ancell as Edward Hyde 1; Tatum Mitchell as Edward Hyde 2; Kevin Tate as Edward Hyde 3; Kira Matheson as Edward Hyde 4; Carson Wagner as Gabriel Utterson; Emily Leatherwood as Dr. H.K.
