Aurora to host Homeownership Expo Nov. 2

In an effort to help potential homebuyers prepare for homeownership, the City of Aurora and community partners are hosting the 2019 Homeownership Expo from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at West Aurora High School, 1201 W. New York St.

The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required by Thursday, Oct. 31 at www.aurora-il.org/1218/Future-Home-Owner.

More than 35 exhibitors will be available throughout the morning to provide information and answer questions about each step of the home buying process: understanding credit; homebuyer education; selecting the right lender, real estate professional, and insurance agent; understanding the closing process; and what to expect as a homeowner.

Participants can access their credit information and schedule homebuyer education classes at the Expo.

The Homeownership Expo also features two educational workshops presented by industry professionals: Understanding Credit and Down Payment Assistance Programs from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and Steps to Buying a Home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Presentations will be done in English and Spanish.

Free continental breakfast and raffle prizes are included.

2019 sponsors for the event are Fifth Third Bank, First National Bank, Huntington Bank, The Neighbor Project, Neighborhood Loans, Old Second National Bank, State Farm Agent Luis F. Garcia, and others.
