Classical guitarist to perform at Sunday music series in St. Charles

The St. Charles Public Library Sunday Concert Series continues at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, with a performance by classical guitarist Brad Conroy.

He specializes in the art and scholarship of the classical guitar and will perform a program that spans centuries and features music from Mexico, Spain, and Vienna. Conroy will feature music from composers Manuel Ponce, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Isaac Albeinz, and more.

Conroy completed his Bachelor of Music at Northeastern Illinois University (cum laude) with a degree in classical guitar performance where he studied with 19th-century musical scholar Brian Torosian, and furthered his music studies with an Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, the music conservatory at Roosevelt University where he studied with world-renowned guitarists Denis Azabagic and Sergio Assad. He is on faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago, and he heads the guitar program at Elgin Community College.
