Support Make a Difference Day drive Oct. 26 in Elgin

Make A Difference Day is a day set aside in the U.S. for people and organizations to make a difference in their communities.

Each year, residents of Fawn Lane gather as a community to share with those less fortunate, to donate and have a time of fellowship with neighbors. As their project, they choose to donate to the Hanover Township Food Pantry.

Many residents of Hanover Township face the question of where their next meal is coming from. They depend on the township food pantry for assistance. The residents of Fawn Lane help fill the shelves with their contributions on "Make a Difference Day" (last Saturday in October).

Open your hearts and pantries and donate canned goods, paper products, and foodstuffs to those less fortunate. They will have a collection at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Jane Parker's home at 107 Fawn Lane.

Hanover Township Supervisor Brian McGuire and Director of Community & Government Relations Tom Kuttenberg will be there to meet and greet the residents as well as answer any questions concerning the township (tax questions, information on the Cook County Forest Preserve property, as well as the food pantry, etc.).

Members of the social committee will be serving coffee and doughnuts.

If you can't make it, leave your donation on your front porch and it will be picked up. McGuire will be bringing a van to deliver the donations to the Hanover Township Food Pantry.

If you have any clean, unused winter jackets, coats, scarves and gloves, the township also will find a use for them.
