Chicago-area Methodists met at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora Sunday, Sept. 16, to plan presentations for a 2020 United Methodist Church General Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Rev. Alka Lyall, senior pastor at Broadway UMC in Chicago and chair of the Northern Illinois Conference General Conference delegation, moderated the session attended by 13 delegation members.

The meeting was among a series the delegation is holding to prepare for General Conference, May 5-15, 2020.

Lyall is former pastor of Bethany UMC in Aurora. She serves on the board of directors of the UMC General Commission on Religion and Race and chaired the NIC annual conference session June 2-4 at the Schaumburg Convention Center.

Roger Curless of Aurora, Wesley UMC congregant, led volunteers who served a bread and soup dinner for the delegation.
