Villa Park's Troop 199 has record 7 Scouts earn the Eagle Rank

Less than 5 percent of Scouts earn the rank of Eagle.

This past year, Troop 199 in Villa Park was honored to award the prestigious rank to seven of its scouts.

All of the Scouts reside in Villa Park and are current students or recent graduates of Willowbrook High School.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. They must complete a minimum of 21 merit badges and complete a service project that benefits their community.

These seven Eagle Scouts earned 229 merit badges and 38 additional recognitions and awards.

Their projects have a grand total of over 1700 volunteer hours and benefit the homeless, St. Alexander's Church, The York Senior Center, Willowbrook High School and the Village of Villa Park.

These seven boys have participated in a combined 80 years of scouting and encourage other boys and girls to get involved in their local Scout packs and troops.
