Elk Grove Village Named the third Safest City to Live in Illinois

We are proud to announce that Elk Grove Village has been ranked as the 3rd safest city to live in Illinois through a study conducted by backgroundchecks.org. The Elk Grove Village Police Department, in partnership with our community, is committed to ensuring public safety through law enforcement, education and exceptional service, while performing with the highest level of integrity and assuring all individuals dignity and respect. The Village is proud to see this dedication and level of service directly reflected by this recent study, whose summary highlights that Elk Grove Village recorded a violent crime rate over ten times lower than the City of Chicago.

The study formulated a safety index score by reviewing the most recent FBI crime statistics to create state rankings based on cities in Illinois with a population of 10,000 people or more. The study reviewed violent crime rates, property crime rates, and the number of law enforcement workers on a per capita basis. Along with Elk Grove Village, the studied named Warrenville, Deerfield, Burr Ridge, and Wood Dale as the top 5 safest cities to live in Illinois. This accomplishment reflects not only the efforts of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, but also the commitment of the Village to providing essential training, resources and support.
