Geneva seeks community input on strategic plan with forum, online survey

Residents, merchants and stakeholders are invited to help shape the future of Geneva by attending the city's Strategic Plan Advisory Committee's upcoming community forum.

The forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Geneva Public Works Department, 1800 South St.

The forum will begin with a brief presentation on the city's strategic plan followed by an opportunity for attendees to meet with committee members to learn more about specific focus areas within the plan.

As a reminder, South Street near the Public Works Department continues to remain closed due to a sinkhole damaging the roadway's culvert crossing. Westbound South Street traffic is being detoured to head north on Burgess Road, west on Kaneville Road, and south on Southampton Drive. People heading east on South Street can still access the Public Works Department's driveway without being detoured.

For those that cannot attend the forum, they can still make their voice heard through an online survey that can be found on the city's website at www.geneva.il.us. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. The deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The forum and survey are part of the city's ongoing efforts to improve services, gather important feedback and educate the community about the plan. Public input will help the committee identify priorities and make recommendations to the City Council regarding the implementation of the strategic plan.

The 2025 strategic plan was created with assistance from a broad cross-section of community stakeholders and focuses on five areas:

• Economic vitality;

• Strong governance;

• Environmental stewardship;

• Excellent municipal services; and

• Quality of life.

A strategic plan is a valuable tool used by city leaders to identify goals and prioritize resources. The city council and city staff rely on the visions presented within the plan to guide development and design programs to ensure Geneva remains a vibrant and prosperous community.
