Salt Creek Park District's Youth Obstacle Course Race is Sept. 21

The Salt Creek Park District will hold its second annual Youth Obstacle Course Race at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Twin Lakes Recreation Area, 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive, Palatine.

The 1.25 mile (2K) obstacle run will feature 12-14 man-made and natural obstacles along the perimeter of the Twin Lakes Golf Course. The course will take adventurous youth, between the ages of 6-14, for a fun race that will challenge their physical ability and determination.

Kids will climb over walls, go under nets, go across balance beams, run through tire obstacles, carry wood blocks, go over hurdles, slide down a slip n' slide, jump to hay bale steps, and more along the course. Children, who are 6 years old, must be accompanied by a registered adult over 18 years of age.

All registered participants will receive a race goody bag, event T-shirt, (if registered before Sept. 5) finisher certificate, and post-race refreshments.

The race will have a timed finish, with results available online at saltcreekpd.com after the race. Participants that place in the top three of their age category will win a medal and the park district will have trophies for the overall male and female winners.

Preregistration is available online at saltcreekpd.com through Wednesday, Sept. 18, using program code 100115. The fee for preregistration is $25 per person. Day-of-event registration will be available at Twin Lakes on the deck beginning at 8 a.m. on Sept. 21, for $30 per person - cash only.
