Brush Salon in Downtown Palatine Celebrates First Anniversary

Downtown Palatine's Brush Salon, located at 109 W. Slade Street, is celebrating its first anniversary this fall. Owner Alexis Rodgers was drawn to the vacant space just west of Brockway Street in the walkable downtown because of the architectural details, and its prime location in the heart of the downtown area.

"Our stylists came with built-in clientele from years of service; I wanted to find a location that had foot traffic to accommodate local walk-ins," Rodgers said. "It's exciting to be a part of the downtown area, since there's always something going on nearby, whether it's a concert at the park, a parade or shoppers supporting other downtown businesses."

Before opening, the building where the salon is located underwent a gut rehab, which removed carpet, wallpaper and opened up the space to accommodate a full salon, while still keeping the building's 'good bones' intact. Unique features in the space include the interior archway and a welcoming vestibule. The inside was updated with a clean, modern look that includes a waiting area, open section for hair services, private room for waxing treatments and a processing room with relaxing music and low lighting.

Haircut and styling services are available for children, women and men; the salon also offers hair color treatments using the Alfaparf Milano European line. Face, eyebrow and body waxing beauty services are available, in addition to eyelash extensions. Brush Salon has a dozen employees ranging from newer talent to stylists with more than 20 years of experience in the beauty industry.

After being in the industry herself for more than a decade, Rodgers is proud to have opened the business and is looking forward to celebrating the salon's first anniversary (and many more) with her clients and employees. Brush Salon is open Tuesday through Saturday, and Sunday by appointment only. For more information, visit Brush Salon at brushsalonpalatine.com or call 847-485-8721.
