ArtReach, Spotlite to hold auditions for 'Sound of Music'

ArtReach Educational Theatre and Spotlite Theatrix are holding auditions for children and adult actors and advanced high school/college performers for their upcoming production of "The Sound of Music" from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3201 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows.

The troupes are seeking adult actors and advanced level high school and college students/teenagers for principal roles. This production will be rehearsed and performed as part of the fall musical, where adult volunteer actors will serve as lead actors/performance mentors to the children and teens enrolled in the Child/Teen Mentoring Project.

If you would like to be considered for a principal or singing role, prepare an up-tempo musical theater song or a song from the show and bring an accompaniment CD. (A CD of songs from the show will be provided.)

If you would like to be considered for a principal singing role in the show, sing one of the songs for the character you are most interested in. If you would like to be considered for an ensemble role, only a movement combination will be taught. All children will be taught a movement combination.

Rehearsals will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rolling Meadows from 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Not everyone will be called the entire evening, but is asked to keep these time frames open, and potentially some Saturdays, in conjunction with a workshop, beginning Aug. 19.

The show will be performed Friday, Oct. 11; Saturday, Oct. 12; and Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center in Palatine.
