Township assessor urges lookout for bill errors

Schaumburg Township Assessor John R. Lawson is urging all township residents of the importance of reviewing their second installment property tax bills.

The Cook County Assessor's Office has informed all townships of a small number of miscalculations on the property bills, such as in Wheeling Township.

Additionally, Lawson is recommending all seniors make sure their senior exemptions are in place and carefully check their bills - especially those who pay the bills through escrow with their mortgage as mortgage companies simply pay the bill.

The second installment of Cook County tax bills is due Thursday, Aug. 1.

Questions can be directed to the township assessor's office at (847) 884-0030 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional information can be found at schaumburgtownship.org/departments/assessors-office/.
