DuPage students earn National Merit Scholarships

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. recently announced additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities.

These designees join more than 3,500 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution.

College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

Here's a look at the most recent winners from DuPage County:

• Kaushal Gumpula of Aurora and the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy plans to study physics at the University of Chicago.

• Tejas J. Ogale of Bolingbrook and Neuqua Valley High School plans to study law at Vanderbilt University.

• Nicholas M. Sutton of Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale Central High School plans to study economics at Vanderbilt University.

• Hayden C. Snyder of Elmhurst and York High School plans to study mechanical engineering at Bucknell University.

• Pranav Jaikumar of Naperville and Waubonsie Valley High School plans to study computer science at Purdue University.

• Patrick Koh of Naperville and Naperville Central High School plans to study computer programming at Case Western Reserve University.

• Samyag Madrecha of Naperville and Waubonsie Valley High School plans to study aerospace engineering at the University of Southern California.

• Mili Shah of Naperville and the University of Chicago Laboratory High School in Chicago plans to study law at Northwestern University.

• Christopher J. Song of Naperville and Neuqua Valley plans to study economics at Northwestern University.

• Emily B. Kizior of Westmont and Hinsdale Central plans to study law at Miami University.
