Elgin chapter of Hadassah program looks at diabetes research

Elgin's Chapter of Hadassah, an international organization of women Zionists, will hold an ice cream social at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at a local member's home. Reservations can be made by Sunday, July 7, by calling (847)-828-6090.

The entrance fee is $10 per person for members, associates, and prospective members.

The afternoon's speaker will be Dr. George Motto, M.D., who entered private practice as one of Chicago's first board certified endocrinology and metabolism specialists in 1974. Motto has special interest in the management of diabetes types 1 and 2, obesity, and lifestyle for the treatment and prevention of disease built upon his extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic disease.

He will be sharing information on Hadassah Hospital's diabetes research, which aims to disrupt the disease's progression or force it into remission.

The Elgin Chapter of Hadassah has been in existence for close to 75 years, providing a social and fundraising forum to support the hospital and medical research system owned by Hadassah in Israel.

Membership and associate membership is open to those supportive of Hadassah's medical mission and medical care provided to Israeli patients, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.
