Retirement open house honors Fox River Public Library director

The community is invited to bid a fond farewell to Fox River Public Library District Director Roxane Bennett at an open house held in honor of her retirement.

It will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee. It is also Bennett's last day.

Bennett was hired as director in 2009. The Dundee Library had just gone through an interior renovation. Over the next 10 years, Bennett championed innovation, efficiency, and transparency while leading the library into a new age of service both internally and externally.

Prior to taking the reins at the Fox River Public Library District, Bennett served in a variety of leadership roles in Florida and Ohio libraries.

The Fox River Public Library District serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin.
