Sign up for American Pride Project with VFW

The Elgin Watch City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1307 and its Auxiliary are starting a new fundraiser, the American Pride Project.

For a $50 subscription, volunteers will install a temporary 10-foot flagpole with a 3- by 5-foot flag in a resident's yard in Elgin or South Elgin on five national holidays during the year.

The flags will be up about dawn and taken down by dusk on Memorial Day (May 27), Flag Day (June 14), Fourth of July, Patriot Day (Sept. 11) and Veterans Day (Nov. 11).

Go to vfw1307.net to download an order form under "News & Events" and "Documentation" to download an order form.

It is an opportunity to show your pride at being an American and to honor veterans.

A subscription for this American Pride Project is a minimum of $50 for the year; it will be prorated to $40 after Memorial Day and $30 after Flag Day.

Spread the word and share with neighbors.

The VFW and Auxiliary is hoping to have a flag flying at every house in town.

The post hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month. If it is a federal holiday, the meetings are on the second Monday.

They are currently meeting in the backroom of Hoopers Bar and Grill, 975 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin.

Post 1307 is proud to have a vibrant and active auxiliary. The auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month at Elgin Fire Station No. 6, 707 W. Chicago St. in Elgin.
