Improv Playhouse Theater presents 'Improvised Jane Austen'

The community is invited to come celebrate Mother's Day weekend at Improv Playhouse for the special local performance of the Chicago hit all female, touring company, "Improvised Jane Austen."

With independent heroines, misunderstood suitors, meddling mothers, and charming cads, "Improvised Jane Austen" will create a Regency love story on the spot at Libertyville's Improv Playhouse. The women of the company take an audience suggestion and craft a story the most prominent female author of the 19th century might have written, and carry it through misadventures and misunderstandings to its proper British conclusion.

Since 2009, the women of "Improvised Jane Austen" have graced venues including the Playground Theater, Chemically Imbalanced Comedy, Stage 773, Bughouse Theater, Chicago Improv Festival, the Chicago Women's Funny Festival, Nerd Fest, The Milwaukee Comedy Festival, and the Dallas Comedy Festival, as well as historical societies and schools.

Improvised Jane Austen stars: Allison Black, Ana Silva, Emily Friedrick, Holly Robison, Jessye Grace Mueller, Josephine Longo, Kaelea Rovinsky, Kate Parker, Kelsey Fehlberg, Kristen Rau, Mariah Michael, Mishell Livio, Sarah Mobley, Shannon Baucus, and Squeek Rangel. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Tickets are $10 in advance for adults, $5 for students.

To register, call (847) 968-4529 or go to improvplayhouse.com. Shows are clean comedy. Performances are scheduled for Saturday, May 11, with a family friendly show at 7:30 p.m. and an adult friendly show at 9 p.m. at the Improv Playhouse Theater, 735 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville.
