Jaycee Playground at the Riverwalk to be renovated in fall 2019

The Naperville Park District is planning to renovate the Jaycee Playground on the Riverwalk in fall 2019 and invites residents to help select playground equipment by ranking their preferred designs online this spring.

The link showing the playground equipment options is available through Monday, April 15 at www.napervilleparks.org/riverwalkparkplayequipment.

Participants can view five different layouts for the playground and rank them according to their preference.

Each design was created by a different company based on the same budget. Please note that only one submission per address will be permitted.

Viewing and ranking playground designs online is a new way that Naperville residents can provide feedback to the park district as playgrounds are being planned.

In past years, the district held public meetings, but wanted to let people participate in a more convenient way. So far in 2019 the park district has offered online ranking for two other playgrounds at neighborhood parks - one at Heatherstone Park and one at Three Meadows Park - and these online evaluations attracted more participants than typically would attend an evening meeting.

The current playground equipment at the Jaycee Playground was installed in 2005 and is in need of replacement due to wear and tear.

One of the most popular playgrounds in Naperville, the equipment is used year round by families, preschools, day care centers, and Riverwalk visitors.

Located near the Grand Pavilion just west of Centennial Beach, the playground has convenient parking, drinking fountains and restrooms.

Since 1990, when the original Jaycee Playground was established, its purpose has been to provide opportunities for inclusive play for children of all abilities.

The 2019 renovated playground will continue this tradition with state-of-the-art equipment that promotes cooperative play.
