Harold Brosowske celebrates 100 years!

Harold Brosowske, a current resident at Spring Meadows Libertyville was born May 25th 1919 in Red River Valley. He lived on the family farm 6 miles North of Barney, North Dakota. The closet major city is Fargo, North Dakota. To put this date in perspective, Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota was not even a glimmer in the eyes of Sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, World War I just concluded a couple months before Harold was born. The United States Congress approves the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which would guarantee suffrage to women, and sends it to the states for ratification and Woodrow Wilson was President of the United States.

Harold recalls no running water or electricity growing up. He spent his time with his Grandma after school. Harold had a younger brother and sister. Harold was drafted into the Army and served for three years. Soon after serving his country, he married the woman he met on a blind date about a year earlier while still in the Army. Harold and his wife had five children, two boys and three girls.

Harold's career was working for National Cash Register as a Service Manager until he retired at the age of 62. Throughout his career, Harold moved his family numerous times and ended up in Illinois.

Harold's secret to longevity is living a good life. He never smoked or was much of a drinker. He is a devoted church goer, exercises on a daily basis and reads as much as he can. He thanks God that he feels healthy as if he was in his thirties. Harold is looking forward to catching up to his cousin that is now 101!
