City of St. Charles partners in IMUA Scholarship Program

The City of St. Charles, in partnership with the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA), is offering four $1,000 scholarships to eligible high school students.

To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are residential customers of City of St. Charles utilities.

Eligible students are asked to submit an essay of 500 words or less addressing one of three utility-related questions.

Essays should be typewritten and double-spaced, and include the student's first and last name, home address, phone number, and email address on the cover.

Students must submit an application and copy of their transcript with their essays.

Entries are due Friday, March 8, and the winners will be announced in April.

The scholarship program seeks to promote and recognize scholastic achievement, as well as create greater awareness among young adults of the many issues facing consumers and public power municipalities.

Since it began, the program has awarded more than $43,000 to 84 students from 29 different IMUA member communities statewide.

The application, list of essay questions, and full guidelines can be found at www.stcharlesil.gov.
