Arlington Heights names village's 6th fire chief

Andrew Larson, Arlington Heights' acting fire chief since November, was appointed to the permanent position Friday after 22 years of service to the department.

He will be only the sixth fire chief the village has had since the fire department changed from volunteer to full-time in 1958.

Friday's announcement was made by Arlington Heights Village Manager Randy Recklaus.

"Chief Larson has demonstrated a passion, dedication, and vision for the department and the men and women who serve in it," Recklaus said in a written statement. "I know he will continue to build upon the long traditions of innovation and success of the Arlington Heights Fire Department. His leadership will positively impact the essential services provided to our community."
