ALS research panel discusses breakthroughs

As a part of the Barrington White House spring season of events, world-leading physicians and scientists from the Chicago area will host a panel discussion on the history and recent breakthroughs regarding ALS research.

Attendees will hear from distinguished physicians and scientists from Northwestern University and University of Illinois at Chicago on their cutting-edge research to find a cure for ALS.

The event features Dr. Hande Ozdinler, pioneer of upper motor neurons research; Dr. Richard Silverman, inventor of pharmaceutical products such as Lyrica; and Dr. Gerardo Morfinio, who is collaborating with Dr. Ozdinler to harness how neurons receive, process and transmit information.

The panel will be moderated by Doug McConnell, a longtime ALS supporter through his "Long Swim" efforts.

"This event is a very special and unique opportunity to hear about the groundbreaking new research being done to combat ALS by renowned physicians in their field," said Village of Barrington Cultural Director Rollin Potter.

"ALS research and treatment has been evolving so rapidly, and this is due to many of the breakthroughs discovered by these panelists."

All guests are welcome to attend a complimentary reception and cash bar following the discussion. Tickets are on sale now for $15 per person. Visit www.barringtonswhitehouse.com/event/als-research-developments-past-recent-and-future/ or call (224) 512-066 for ticketing assistance.
