Neuqua Valley High School teachers make the grade at McTeacher's Night

Neuqua Valley High School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support the college scholarship program.

Teachers from Indian Prairie Unit District 204, volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Naperville McDonald's located on Route 59 where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Neuqua Valley High School.

John Pontarelli and Laura McCarthy tended the apple pie box during the night while Stacy Welton, Jason Verdin, Carrie Ory, and Assistant Principal Sharon Ruff sold the pies.

Chris Cebrzynski, Carrie Ory and Jonathan Walker all worked hard at the drive-thru window to raise funds for Neuqua.

Keri Dunn, a school Parent Teacher Student Association representative, did an outstanding job selling pies to customers at the end of the night.

The proceeds from the sale of 120 pies went directly to benefit the student scholarships.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the Neuqua Valley PTSA, which plans to use the money for the college scholarship program.

Nick Kory, owner-operator of the Naperville McDonald's, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

"McTeacher's Night is part of McDonald's larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community," Kory said.

"We are proud to serve the families of the Neuqua community through the McTeacher's Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community."
