Elk Grove fire department, Jewel help families in need

Members of the Elk Grove Village Fire Department recently partnered with Jewel Osco of Elk Grove Village and School District 59 to provide holiday meals to help feed families of District 59 that are considered homeless.

More than 30 meals were donated to all of the families that are covered by the McKinney Vento Act (1987), which protects school-aged homeless children by providing a stable residence so that students may have adequate and dependable schooling.

The fire department assisted with dropping off the meals donated by Jewel. These full holiday meals included a meat, side dishes, and dessert and provided enough food for more than 200 people. More than 1,000 people have benefited from the generosity of Jewel Osco of Elk Grove Village in just the last three years alone.

The Elk Grove Village Fire Department is proud to be a part of this program that provides hope and nourishment to those in our community that are in need and that may not otherwise have had a healthy holiday meal this year.
