Elgin church to host Christmas sing-along, pageant Dec. 15-16

First Congregational United Church of Christ, 256 E. Chicago St. in Elgin, will celebrate Christmas with two special events this weekend.

On Saturday, Dec. 15, the church will host its annual "Joy to the World" community Christmas carol sing-along at 4 p.m.

Classic and contemporary Christmas carols will be sung, along with performances by the Blue Tulip Wranglers and other local musicians.

This community-wide event raises money for Elgin's Ecker/Renz Mental Health Center and the Community Crisis Center.

On Sunday, Dec. 16, the children and youth of the church will present "The Mysterious Animal" as its 2018 nativity pageant.

This is a humorous adaptation of the Christmas story that presents the meaning of the birth of Christ from the perspective of the animals.
