Lakes Region Watercolor Guild hosts artist demonstration Dec. 13

Donna Jill Witty will be the guest artist at the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 13, at the State Bank of the Lakes, Community Meeting Room, 50 Commerce Drive, Grayslake.

Admission is free for members, $5 nonmembers.

The subject matter that consumes Witty evolves continuously. Ranging from landscapes that include rivers, skies, silent fields and trumpeting foliage to portraits of places and things that are depicted in strong patterns of sunlight and shadow, portraits of people in moments of displaying their souls, and texture - actual physical texture as well as the texture of life.

Witty studied at the University of Florida and the American Academy of Art in Chicago, as well as with nationally known artists Nita Engle and Irving Shapiro.

A professional artist for more than 35 years, her watercolors are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Western Europe and have been recognized with well over 100 awards, including many Best of Show, in Fine Art shows and exhibitions across the nation. She is the current president of the Transparent Watercolor Society.

LRWG welcomes new members and urges anyone interested in watercolor, whether as a painter or simply an art lover, to attend their meetings. The guild sponsors workshops for its members with professional artists from all over the country.

Meetings are held September through May on the second Thursday of the month. Membership fees are $25 per individual, $30 per family.
