Christmas Concert of Worship to feature Judson Theatre Dec. 1
Judson University invites the public to this year's Christmas Concert of Worship at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. Or attend the second evening concert performance at 7 p.m.
"The Christmas Concerts of Worship have always been wonderful ways to usher in the Christmas season, and I'm so pleased that this year we will feature a presentation by Judson Theatre during the second half of the program," said Warren J. Anderson, director of the Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts and an alumnus of Class of 1986.
The Christmas concert will feature the Judson University Choir, the Judson Civic Orchestra, smaller ensembles such as the Chamber Singers, the guitar, piano, percussion and jazz ensembles, as well as a special presentation by Judson Theatre.
In addition to the great music on stage, concertgoers can purchase Judson's latest Christmas CD, "Christmas Kaleidoscope" featuring current and former members of the Judson Piano Ensemble, under the direction of Sojung Lee Hong.
The CD features 12 tracks of delightful Christmas music, including "Sleigh Ride," "Joy to the World," "Carol of the Bells," and other holiday favorites.
This CD and others will be available for purchase in the chapel foyer.
They are also available now through the DCWPA online store, mkt.com/dcwpa.
The Friends of Judson organization also will have its annual cookie sale in the foyer during intermission at both concerts.
Admission is free, however a freewill offering will be collected.
Free shuttle service will be available from Lindner Tower to Herrick Chapel, starting at 2 p.m., with returns after the 3 p.m. program only.
