At the 2018 Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing & Technology Expo held on October 15, the Village presented three local manufacturing companies with Business Excellence Awards based on their commitment to environmental consciousness, innovative manufacturing practices and the community. Deputy Governor Leslie Munger joined Mayor Craig B. Johnson in presenting the 2018 Business Excellence Awards during a luncheon held for exhibitors.

The award for "Excellence in Sustainability" was presented to Permatron, located at 2020 Touhy Avenue. Permatron Corporation has spent 60 years designing and manufacturing air filtration solutions that reduce environmental and economic impacts.

The "Excellence in Innovation" award was presented to Procom, located at 951 Busse Road. Procom is a provider of intelligent control technologies and offers tailored, high-tech, integrated solutions for homeowners and businesses.

The "Excellence in Community Support" was awarded to LA-CO, located at 1201 Pratt Avenue. LA-CO is a family-owned global manufacturing company and in 2017 started a disability hiring program in April of 2017.

In addition to Business Excellence Awards, the Industrial Development of the Year Award was presented to Brennan Investment Group for the Elk Grove Technology Park--an 85 acre high tech industrial campus currently under construction at the site of the old Busse Farm property on Higgins Road.
