City of St. Charles to begin leaf collection in late October

The City of St. Charles leaf collection service starts Oct. 31.

This program is funded by a portion of the fee collected on the utility bills of eligible homeowners. Residents should call Utility Billing at (630) 377-4426 if you have questions about your eligibility in this program.

The city offers leaf, brush and yard waste bag collection services throughout the fall to help with end of the season yard cleanup. In addition to these regular city collection services, Lakeshore Recycling Services will also provide free bagged leaf and yard waste collection through the entire month of December.

The leaf collection schedule will be:

• East side of the river: Oct. 31, Nov. 12 and Nov. 26

• West side of the river: Nov. 6, Nov. 16 and Nov. 26

Pickup is unavailable for the following areas & subdivisions: Cumberland Green, Delnor Glen Drive, Delnor Townhomes, Dunham Place Commons, Royal Fox private streets, Whittington Course, Townes of Fox Chase, Walnut Hill Townhomes, Auburn Court, Benham Court, Oak Crest, Viewpointe, Wildrose Springs Townhomes and Willowgate.

You must have leaves on the parkway by 6:30 a.m. on the first day of pick up for your area.

It may take three to four days for leaves to be collected in your specific area. A smaller truck will collect leaves in cul-de-sacs.

Leaves cannot be collected if the parkway is obstructed by parked vehicles or other obstacles.

Please keep a distance of approximately 10 feet between leaf piles and permanent structures (fire hydrants, trees, streetlight poles, etc.). Rake leaves in a row parallel to the street at least 1 foot back from the curb and off of the sidewalk. Pushing leaves into the street will result in a fine up to $500.

Yard waste bags are picked up on regular weekly refuse pickup days. Lakeshore Recycling will continue to collect yard waste bags through the month of December.

The final brush pickup will be: Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 for the east side of the river; and Oct. 22 and Nov. 26 for the west side of the river.
