Aurora Historical Society offers patches supporting veterans

The Aurora Historical Society is offering a local-themed clothing patch for veterans and their supporters.

The patch features Andy Aurora, the 1964 brand image for the city, decked out in camouflage instead of his signature red color, and proclaiming "I'm a vet from Aurora, Illinois and proud of it!"

The stick-on/sew-on patches are printed cloth, and measure three inches in diameter. They cost $5 plus tax and are available at the gift shop in the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place, Aurora. Members receive a 10-percent discount.

Shop hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. The shop also will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, serving free coffee and doughnuts to paradegoers.
