Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Oct. 6 at Gail Borden

Experience the diverse cultural richness and contributions of Latinos in Elgin and the United States at the ninth annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin.

This year's celebration will feature a live corrido (song) written by members of the community and performed with Juan Díes from Chicago's acclaimed musical group Sones de Mexico.

Latinos nominated by their fellow Elginites for inspiring and uplifting others through their lives and achievements will be in the spotlight at the celebration, which is free to the community. It will also feature stories, dancing with Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl, crafts and more.

There will be author booths, sponsored by Today's Inspired Latinas Authors Booth, and a photo booth, as well as a Touch-A-Truck in the parking lot.

and the local "Who Inspires You" Project with local nominees!

All are "bienvenidos" (welcome)!
