Buffalo Grove Police Offer Free Child Safety Seat Checks

The Buffalo Grove Police Department will be offering free car seat checkups on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Buffalo Grove Park District Golf Dome parking lot, 801 N. McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove.

Officers who are certified car seat technicians will be on-site to examine previously installed car seats for proper fit, as well as assist in installing car seats. The officers are certified by Safe Kids Worldwide, which requires a week-long training course, accompanied by practical exams.

"As children are returning to school, the Buffalo Grove Police Department is offering these 'checkups' to ensure car seats are safe and secure," said Traffic Sergeant Michelle Kondrat. "It's a great time to remind parents about the importance of a properly installed car seat, whether it is for an infant, or school-aged child."

Those who attend this event should enter at the Golf Dome entrance and are asked to bring car seats, along with the vehicle they are to be installed in, in addition to car seat and vehicle manuals. Appointments are not required, and all are welcome to attend. The checkups are expected to take approximately 25 minutes.

Please contact the Buffalo Grove Police Department at 847-459-2560.
