Richard Green Named Director for Northwestern Mutual - Chicago

A former collegiate athlete, Richard A. Green, knows a good coach is a game changer. Now the former Dominican Stars outfielder leads his own team introducing college students to a career as a financial planner.

As Northwestern Mutual-Chicago's' newest College Unit Director, he will coach and lead a team of college financial representatives in the Rosemont district office who are participating in the firm's nationally recognized internship program1. Green will also continue to build his financial planning practice by working with doctors and dentists to develop a game plan to help them achieve financial security.

"Richard has made great contributions to the internship program through recruiting, mentoring and coaching our college representatives," said Thomas J. Canale, Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual - Chicago in Rosemont. "He's very passionate about giving young professionals the opportunity to have a great internship experience," he added.

"Our internship is like none other," said Green. "It gives college students an opportunity to test-drive a full-time career of a financial representative while taking advantage of a highly respected college program," he added.

For the past 22 years, the company's nationally recognized college financial representative internship program was named one of the top internships for students seeking careers in the financial services industry by Vault.com.

Green started his career in the firm's Top 10 internship2 while a student-athlete. Working full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year, he successfully navigated his studies, his baseball commitment, and the internship program. Upon graduation, he joined the firm full-time.

He started his leadership journey being named a College Unit Captain in 2017, a position he held until being named a College Unit Director in 2018.

A graduate of Dominican University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, he has continued his education earning his series 6 and 63 securities licenses.

Green is a faculty member of Beyond the Classroom, an education platform designed to teach doctors what they didn't learn in the med school. He is a weekly volunteer in The Free youth ministry program at Chicago Tabernacle. And, he has coached kids participating in the Near West Little League, a Chicago inner-city baseball and softball program.

Green resides in Elmwood Park with his wife, Nicole.
