Junior Golfers Take Over the Grayslake Golf Course

The Grayslake Community Park District's Junior Golf Camp and Junior Golf League completed another successful season at the Grayslake Golf Course. Over 50 junior golfers (ages 8 to 14 years) improved their golf game by participating in the 8-week summer program.

"Instruction on a challenging course like the Grayslake Golf Course is a great way to prepare junior golfers for future play on a variety of terrains," said Grayslake Golf Course Manager/Head Instructor Mike Perez. As a World Golf Teachers Federation Top 100 World Teacher and United States Golf Teaching Federation Hall of Fame Member, Perez is well-qualified to lead the Junior Golf Camp and League.

The Grayslake Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-3 public golf course operated by the Grayslake Community Park District. Hazards, bunker berms, and greens combine for a memorable golf experience for both seasoned golfers and someone just learning the game. The Grayslake Golf Course offers open tee times, private or group lessons for juniors and adults, tournaments, and special events throughout the year.

The Junior Golf Camp focuses on golf swing instruction, on-course etiquette, problem solving techniques, and goal setting. In the Junior Golf League, players compete for prizes by achieving course goals (such as hitting a certain number of par-3s in a given number of strokes).

Junior golfers attended a special tournament and banquet at the Grayslake Golf Course on Saturday, August 4, 2018 to showcase their newly refined skills and celebrate the season. The Grayslake Golf Course extends a huge thank you to coaches Jack Falcus, Brendan Kick, Ron Klein, Allan Martins, Paul Price, Danny Sator, and Kollin Wardin for sharing their expertise with the junior golfers.
