Oak Brook Mutt Miler offers affordable fun for everyone

The Oak Brook Park District is excited to announce that the second annual Mutt Miler will be more fun and more affordable than ever!

According to recreation supervisor, Kim Catris, the park district recently simplified registration for the 2018 event.

"We wanted to make the Mutt Miler more accessible for families," Catris said.

Registration is now a flat $10 fee and includes admission for one adult and one dog, with no charge for additional fur babies or human babies.

The registration fee includes one T-shirt and one bandana. Those that wish to receive an event shirt are required to register.

While dogs are free, owners will be asked to complete a waiver for each participating animal.

This year's Mutt Miler will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Central Park, 1500 Forest Gate Road. It is sponsored by the Hinsdale Animal Hospital.

The event will feature a 1-mile walk, Oak Brook Police K-9 demonstration, and pet-friendly vendors including Doo Care Dog Waste Management, Hinsdale Humane Society, Kriser's Natural Pet, Oak Brook Kennel Club, Paws With a Cause, PetPeople, and Smallcakes of Western Springs. Kind Bar and Bentley's Pet Stuff are providing giveaways.

Half the proceeds from this event support Oak Brook Park District's Universal Playground Project. For more information on the project, visit www.universalplayground.org.
